Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Giclée?

A Giclée print is a high-quality reproduction made using the best practices, best quality paper and ink available. All inks used are light fast and have a life span of over two hundred years. The paper is Moab Entrada, a professional grade archival art paper. Together they make for an elegant and high-end product that can last generations.

Do you sell original work?

Yes. Some of the originals are commissions and are spoken for. Some are sold to loyal collectors who regularly scoop up their favorite pieces. Yet, some work is offered exclusively as original to the general public since the textures or techniques used in its making are not compatible with the process of making giclée. For those interested, we keep a number of one-of-a-kind originals on this page: https://www.madcollage.com/originals

How big are the prints?

Our prints are 11x14”. It’s a standard size. That means it’ll be really easy and affordable to frame them. They can also be printed in 16x20” or 8x10” (which are also standard sizes). Your choice and our pleasure to meet your needs.

The image within the print varies in size. For example, on an 11x14” sheet of paper, square originals are typically a bit larger than 8x8” and rectangular originals yield an 8x11” image on average. There are naturally some variations as every original piece is unique in its shape and size. Sample layouts are below.

Do you ever print larger format?

Most prints can be printed up to 16x20”. Please inquire about the specific print you are interested in by using the contact form on this page: https://www.madcollage.com/contact. We will try our best to accommodate your request.

Can I include a message to the recipient?

Indeed you can let us know if you wish to send a written message to the recipient of the giclée. We will include a small card at no extra charge. Our pleasure!

Do you do commission work?

Yes, I create commissioned work often. It ranges from pet portraits to commemorative collages marking a special occasion such as a graduation, birthday, or wedding. Giclée are a fantastic gift that will be enjoyed for generations, but original commissions are intimate and distinctive. A one of a kind gift that will become a family heirloom.

Current pricing on commission work is primarily based on dimensions. An original 16x20 is $295. Smaller sizes are as follows:

11x14 - $225
8x10 - $195
5x7 - $125

When will I receive my print?

Prints are shipped the next business day from the time the order comes in. Depending of your location, you can expect your giclée five to seven days later. We strive for safe, fast shipping. You will also receive an email with a tracking number that you can use to check on the progress of your shipment.

Is your work digital collage?

No. My work is exclusively traditional collage, cut and paste technique and handmade. Artwork made using a computer program (no matter how complicated it might be) is painting with Photoshop. Collage implies three dimensionality and the use of tangible materials. I enjoy the tactile aspect of collage, which is lost when an image is made on a screen.

Where can I find your work?

Our fine art giclée are exclusive to our website. This collection is one-of-a-kind. We give the utmost attention to detail during the printing and shipping process.

All images are of the highest resolution. The result is a velvety and richly colored print.

Are your prints mass-produced?

Madcollage giclée prints are produced with great care. Each one is individually and manually loaded into the printer for an impeccable finish. The images are printed in small batches of five prints at a time, then inspected, signed, and numbered by the artist. Both the paper and the inks used in the making of each giclée are of the highest quality available in today’s market. Enjoy a product of superior value for generations to come! There is no need to settle for a mere, low quality reproduction.
