Through teaching, I have met many lovely collage enthusiasts in Vermont. It's been an exciting experience to teach art once again, and I enjoy staying in touch with former students. To better connect with each other, we created VT Collage Club on Facebook. It’s a place for inspiration and fun. Artists from all over the world are welcome, and we all learn from each other. The artwork we create in class or at home finds exposure online, and it can be shared with friends and family. This convenient platform is perfect to further engage with other artists. Join the group for some show and tell!

I hope you can come along for the ride. No art experience is necessary. Just come ready to play.

Classes

December 7th, 1 to 3pm - Winter Workshop

Winter will soon pounce without notice and we’ll all be busy, busy, busy (and cold).

Why not carve a tiny slice of self-care time and knock a few things off your shopping list all at once?

We will be making cards, wreaths, ornaments and all manner of paper crafts to use as handmade gifts.

Sip a bit of hot cocoa, have a cookie and share a few moments of peace and community.

Only five spots available. (my studio is small, but cozy)

All materials are provided.

Workshop is free, but donations for supplies are welcome. Thank you!

Come ready to play!

October 2019 - Access CVU Fall Session

Visual Art Journaling – Cover to Cover Inspiration - Session Closed

We are all familiar with written diaries, but visual art journals go a step further by using images in order to tell a story. Visual art journals are made up of drawings, paintings, collaged images, old photographs and all manner of mementos. Come create your beautiful, one-of-a-kind visual art journal. The process is intended to develop self-awareness, boost creativity and expand your technical abilities. In your journal, you can include funny stories, heartfelt poems, touching memories, dreams and lots of vibrant colors.  Your completed art journal will reflect who you are, your chosen identity, and how you see the world. We will practice non-dominant hand drawing, calligraphy, and free word associations. Join us on this exploration of artistic inner worlds. A beautiful exercise on introspection, visual journaling is well suited for teens and adults alike.

Natural Beauty: Mixed Media Journaling for Gardeners @ Horsford Gardens and Nursery

August 1, 2019 to August 31, 2019

This series of art classes take place each Thursday in August (8/1, 8/8, 8/15, 8/22, 8/29) on the grounds of the beautiful Horsford Nursery. Participants can register for individual classes or the entire series.

Garden journaling is a quiet, focused activity. A hybrid of written text and visual images, a garden journal is a compilation of thoughts, observations, and memories that might come to you while you enjoy the cool shade of a locust tree on a summer evening. Nature gazing allows for self-reflection and relaxation. Join us at Horsford Gardens & Nursery to capture the delicate colors of a flower or the rough texture of a rock. Immerse yourself in the magic of this gorgeous setting and release your creativity. No previous art experience required. All are welcome.

In this class we will utilize paint, paper, fabric and transfers to create amazing, intriguing and beautifully layered art. It is the perfect class for those who are already familiar with collage but wish to explore new techniques and achieve different effects.

Also, a great class for artists focused on other media (drawing, painting) yet curious about how to incorporate found images into their work. We will learn to develop interesting surfaces while building a back story for your collage and getting your piece ready for display.

Expand your knowledge of collage making and let your imagination soar in a supportive and friendly environment. Young or old we all have a story to tell, so bring your scissors and tell it through images full of humor and nuance.
